Stars Buried Treasures

Kathryn Quinn

A host of celebrities like Tom Cruise and Eric Clapton are to be asked to contribute to a time capsule to mark the 400th anniversary of a theatre at VIP holiday hotspot, Hvar, in Croatia.

Local mayor Pjerino Bebic says the stars and others like F1 motor racing tycoon Bernie Ecclestone and even Prince Harry - who have all holidayed on the island resort - will be asked to volunteer mementos of their stays.

"We'd like people to send items that capture this moment, now in Europe - like iPads, Adele CDs, Manchester City shirts. Whatever they have," he explained.

Organisers will bury the giant capsule and dig it up again at the theatre's 500th anniversary in 2113.
