Things just went from bad to hearse on this wedding day in Taiwan.

First the couple tempted fate by choosing the unluckiest day in the Chinese calender for the ceremony.

And then they chose funeral cars to get then to the service in the capital Taiwan City.

"Most couples use feng shui to find the luckiest day of the year to marry on," explained groom Hou Mingxiu, 26, whose family runs the funeral service that provided the hearses.

"But we used it to find the unluckiest day with the worst omens, which for us was February 12.

"Then to make sure no-one would ever forget this day, we used the hearses instead of limousines," he added.

Bride Dai Yunxuan, 24, agreed: "People can criticise us for challenging the omens, but we're not fighting tradition.

"We just wanted our day to be different."
