A bizarre conman who pretends to fall over in front of luxury hotels and restaurants to fleece wealthy guests has been exposed in southern China.
The middle-aged man was spotted and filmed collapsing in front of five exclusive venues in just 40 minutes in Haikou, Hainan province.
Office worker Lei Wan grew suspicious when the fraudster apparently passed out in front of them as she and a pal were emerging from a posh shoe shop.
"He told us a sob story about being broke but he was lying.
"I saw he had a huge gold ring on his finger and something just didn't add up so we decided to follow him," said Lei.
The couple then videoed him on their mobile phones while he fleeced five different sets of victims in the space of minutes, escaping with a haul of nearly 200 GBP.
Now police are hunting for the fall guy fraudster after Lei handed over their surveillance footage.
"He's very convincing but we're onto him now," said a police spokesman.
