Horse and Carnage

A newly-wed couple's romantic horse drawn carriage ride ended in carnage when a car ploughed into its side.

Bride and groom, Daria (22) and Pawel Szymanski (24), were seriously injured when the Citroen Picasso crashed into them just moments after tying the knot in Poznan, Poland. Both were taken to hospital along with the driver. The horse was killed instantly.

Witness Rafal Kaminski said: "It was horrific. One minute people were waving and cheering the newly-wed couple.

"The next thing we saw was them being hit by a car, the horse going through the windscreen and the carriage flying through the air.

"It was like something out of a movie."

Police are investigating.
