Superstitious Wang Guorun, 48, is being sued by neighbours in central China after he dug up their mother's tomb and burned her body to even out the bad luck he'd been having for years.

Wang - from Changliang, Hubei province - claimed feng shui experts had told him that the coffin, next to his grandparents' tomb, was blocking his family's luck.

So after his neighbours refused to move their mother, he dug her up and told them: "I asked you to move it but you didn’t, so I did it myself.

"Now your family will not block my family’s good luck any longer," Wang added.

Judges heard that Wang's neighbours are seeking exemplary damages because he set fire to the body and smashed up the tomb.

The case continues.
