Romantic Lu Zen wanted his proposal to his unsuspecting girlfriend to be just Super - so he floated down from the sky on balloons as the Man of Steel to pop the question.
Lu, 26 - from Donghai, Jiangsu province, eastern China - had taken girlfriend Lina Hu to their favourite restaurant for lunch when, in true Clark Kent style, he slipped away from the table to make a phone call.
Minutes later the couple's friends were calling her out to the front of the eaterie where Lu - now wearing a Superman costume and cape - was hovering 30ft above the ground on a rope from a crane surrounded by balloons.
Then as he was lowered gracefully to the ground, Lu proposed in front of a cheering crowd.
"Luckily she said yes. I'd have looked a complete idiot if she'd turned me down," he said before the couple rode off on a procession of mopeds and bikes with their pals.
"Everyone knew except her. I don't know how we kept it a secret," he added.
