Died Laughing

Kathryn Quinn

Cold-blooded killer Lin Wendong died laughing when a Chinese court sentenced him to death by the firing squad after hearing how he'd slaughtered a judge in a brutal mugging.

Lin, 31, burst out laughing when he was told he'd face the firing squad - and was still grinning when prison guards in the courtroom in Guiyang, Guizhou province, took him away to meet his fate on the same day.

He'd admitted to stabbing a judge nine times before fleeing with his wallet and 170 GBP in cash.

"He only had a few minutes left to live, but once he started laughing he didn't seem to be able to stop," said one witness.

The court heard he had moved to the city from a remote village but had not wanted to face the hard graft of getting a regular job – and had decided to try and get rich quick instead.
