Rail Sorry

Kathryn Quinn

Drunk driver Markus Waldhof is feeling rail sorry for himself after he wrote off his 190,000 Ferrari supercar when he drove it onto tram lines in Munich, Germany.

Waldfof, 52, lost control of the 202 mph 458 Italia coupe while he was speeding home from a night on the town, say prosecutors.

Police say alcohol tests show the driver - who suffered only minor injuries in the smash - was "substantially" over the drink-drive limit.

Now transport officials are set to give him an even bigger hangover by suing him and his insurers to pay for the damages to the rail line.

"He lost control for a second which unfortunately is all it takes in a car this fast," said one traffic officer.
