The couple - aged 72 and 69 - fell ill after having breakfast with their neighbour and doctors found they had been fed a potentially lethal dose of the sleeping pill drug benzodiazepine.

Police discovered a cash card for the couple's bank account had been intercepted by their neighbour - now facing two attempted murder charges - who confessed to poisoning the yoghurt to cover up her theft.
