British soccer fans could already have thrown in the towel over the battle for tickets to the Euro 2012 tournament - after German diplomats boasted that their fans have bagged more stadium seats than any other nation.
More than 20,000 German fans are heading to co-hosts the Ukraine, according to the country's ambassador in Kiev Hans-Jurgen Heimsoeth.
"No other country has bought as many tickets as Germany.
"And it's quite possible that this number will increase," he bragged, adding that thousands more may travel to the Ukraine to watch the matches on giant TV screens in fan zones.
But he claimed that even wealthy Germans were feeling the pinch over the country's rip off hotel prices.
"Prices double during every championship. But here the prices have increased much more," said the ambassador.
