The Beer Hunter

Kathryn Quinn

A boozy burglar was left high and dry when he was left dangling from a barbed wire fence after breaking into a supermarket to steal more beer.

Hapless Matthias Scholz, 20, was only rescued when beat cops in Mettmann, Germany, heard his cries for help and managed to cut him free.

A police spokesman explained: "He'd managed to get over the fence because he hadn't been carrying any bottles then.

"But by the time he'd had a few more drinks and was weighed down with more beer, he just couldn't make it and was stuck fast in the barbed wire."
