Boutique boss Li Hin, 48, showed he was no dummy after he put these surplus to requirements clothing models outside his store to reserve his parking spaces at Jiaxing city, in eastern China’s Zhejiang province.

He said: "I paid the local council to have the spots reserved but they were always occupied. Then I had the idea of putting the two dummies there and since then has been no problem. I think people are a bit embarrassed to touch the naked forms and that means the spaces stay free."

Li, who has a clothing shop nearby said it was easy to keep an eye on the two dummies during the day but he also left them there overnight and nobody had stolen them.

He added: "Maybe it will take off as a fashionable trend – reserved parking dummies."
