Beer with Extra Whey-Hey

Michael Leidig

Brewers have invented a new beer laced with cheese to stop amorous boozers becoming a let down after a night down the pub. The Austrian brew - made with whey from cheese production - promises a "positive and healthy" response even after a skinful. Adverts show a courting country couple apparently about to disappear into a hayloft and a bottle of the Walder Senn beer sticking up at an angle to show just how well drinkers could perform after a few pints of the brew. "If that's the way it leaves you then my wife can't have any objection to me spending the night down the pub," said one drinker at the launch in Bregenz by brewers Egger. Chief brewer Heinrich Hommel explained how the nutritious ingredients and the lower alcohol won't get in the way of drinkers' love lives. "Our aim was to get rid of the cheesy taste of the whey while keeping its nutrients and positive ingredients - the lactose and the vitamins which help keep men healthy," he said.
