Feeling flat

Kathryn Quinn

Traffic cops found more than 600,000 GBP of heroin packed into a car tyre after doing a routine safety check on the trafficking gang's car in a motorway service station.

The police - in Hanover, Germany - were checking tyre treads in the service station car park and grew suspicious at the lumpy spare tyre of the crooks' Audi.

When they opened it up, they discovered a stash of 14 kilos of heroin with a street value of 628,000 GBP.

Three men aged 28, 33 and 37 were arrested and are facing 20 years in jail on trafficking charges.
