Lonely heart crook

Kathryn Quinn

A crook with a 100,000 GBP price on his head was caught after he placed a lonely hearts ad in a newspaper.

Thomas Wolf - who'd escaped from jail three times and was wanted for a 2 million GBP kidnap - put a classified in the personal column in the local paper near his hideout in Hamburg, Germany.

Wolf, 56, described himself as "cultivated but seldom boring" and "financially independent" in the 'Marriage Wanted' column.

But he was snared after suspicious Eva Schiller called police after just two dates with the fugitive, reports Bild newspaper.

After telling her he wanted a relationship he asked her if she would launder large amounts of cash for him which he claimed he'd secured in a business deal.
