Romanian Times

Romania is no longer among the world’s 10 riskiest issuers of sovereign bonds as its credit default risk improved over the third quarter of 2009 a report from London-based Credit Market Analysis (CMA) showed today (Fri).

The country now ranks 12 out of 63 governments, with a cumulative probability of default (CPD) of 14.2 per cent over a reference period of five years.

Norway is the world's safest issuer of sovereign bonds, with a CPD of 1.5 per cent, followed by Finland (1.8 per cent) and the US (1.9 per cent), CMA said.

The group said Ukraine presents the highest probability of default (53.7per cent), followed by Argentina (52 per cent) and Venezuela (51 per cent).
